Dice and many other tattoo designs depicting gambling games equipment are gaining popularity among males and females who see themselves living an extraordinary life filled with some risk, where chance influences them.
Not only are dice tattoos fun to look at, they make attractive body art, and they are also loaded with meaning. At face value, dice tats may mean risk-taker, good luck, daredevil, boldness, fortune, and gambler; however, there are often many underlying, deeper meanings.
Dice tattoos are enjoyed by anyone with a taste for adventure and risk. Still, they can also have a deeper meaning related to the sum of the numbers on a single tattoo, the number of dots.
The Meaning Of A Dice Tattoo
Tattoos Which Show A Single Dice Mean
When dice are just drawn as a single article, they mean the following.
A Single Dice Tattoo With Two Dots
A single dice with one dot means “full stop” and is the end of one phase, which could involve the start of another.
- Leaving an unhealthy relationship
- Leaving a bad habit or addiction
- Changing yourself as a person to become a better individual.
A Single Dice Tattoo With Three Dots
A recipient of a dice tattoo with three dots is a relatively common prison tattoo representing “Mi Vida Loca,” taken from the 1993 film of the same name, meaning “My Crazy Life.”
The intent behind this tattoo is that despite my crazy life, I am still here!
The numeral three is supposed to represent the complete universe, bringing time, the human body, and the world into understanding.
In a Christian context, not only does it represent the holy trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but it has an added significance that God is unchanging and is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
A Single Dice Tattoo With Five Dots
A single dice with five dots is sometimes referred to as the quincunx, an arrangement of five objects with four corners and the fifth at its center.
It is sometimes added to represent time that was spent in prison. The four outer dots represent the four walls, and the inner dot represents the incarcerated prisoner.

While it may seem like a statistical fact that there is a one in thirty-six chance of rolling any two combinations of numbers if you try to achieve the sum of two numbers, the total you are trying for has a different statistical possibility.
An example is when you try to achieve a total of three itcan only be achieved if one dice rolls a one and the other rolls a two.
The number combinations which total three are therefore
- One Plus Two
- Two Plus One
The number of chances is calling the event frequency, which is two in this instance.
The “event frequency” is divided against the possible combinations of thirty-six; the probability of achieving a total of three is eighteen to one.
In the second example, we discuss the chances of achieving seven.
The combinations, which total up to seven, are
- One Plus Six
The event frequency is, therefore, six.
The event frequency of six is divided against the possible combinations of thirty-six by the probability of achieving a total of seven is, therefore, six to one.
In the final example, we discuss the chances of achieving a total of ten.
The combinations which total up to ten are
- Six Plus four
- Five Plus Five
- Five Plus Five
- Four Plus Six
The event frequency is, therefore, four.
The event frequency of four is divided against the possible combinations of thirty-six by the probability of achieving a total of seven is, therefore, nine to one.
What Do Double Dice Tattoos With Numbers Mean?
Dice tats generally mean that the recipient considers themselves to be
- A risk-taker.
- Have a lot of good luck.
- Are a daredevil.
- Consider themselves to be very bold.
- They have or hope to have a fortune
- They are gamblers
There are, however, specific combinations of dice which refine the dice tattoo meaning.
A Double Dice Tattoo Which Totals 2,3 Or 12 Or Any Double Numbers
The tattoo combinations where the odds of achieving a total of two, three, and twelve have the highest odds against them involve the following combinations.
- 1+1 (In the game of craps, this combination is called “Snake Eyes”)
- 1+2 (In the game of craps, this combination is called “Ace Deuce”)
- 6+6 (In the game of craps, this combination is called “Boxcars/Midnight”)
- 2+2 (In the game of craps, this combination is called “Hard Four”)
- 3+3 (In the game of craps, this combination is called “Hard Six”)
- 4+4 (In the game of craps, this combination is called “Hard Eight”)
- 5+5 (In the game of craps, this combination is called “Hard Ten”)
With odds of Eighteen to one, betting these number combinations represent the highest odds against the player.
The total which can be achieved, using these numbers as a combination, shows that the person is a risk taker who lives a life and makes decisions against the odds.
The number One plus One symbolizes good luck, and the recipient of that tattoo is open to new ideas.
What Do Red Dice Symbolise?
If the tattoo depicts a red dice, this refers to the tattoo recipient, and the symbols closest to it represent the person’s fate.
What Does A Flaming Dice Tattoo Design Mean?
When a tattoo depicts a flaming dice, it serves two purposes.
- It adds the concept of life and death, creativity, and remembrance to the other meanings of a dice tattoo.
- It makes the dice tat stand out and is more easily seen.
Some tattoo recipients have a dice that shows seven, and others choose two single dots, which in the game of craps is called snake eyes.
Snake eyes represent loss and uncertainty.
Tattoos can be simple, have no underlying meaning, or be drawn around a symbol laden with intent. Dice tattoos are a case in point where they symbolize different events.
2 dice tattoo designs (three dots and five dots) are often worn by prison gangs and depict their time of incarceration and possibly the crazy life which happens after prison.
